Traditional Coffee Ceremony

From 30 US dollars
Lion of Judah Ethiopian American Cuisine

Service Description

It’s a little known fact that coffee was discovered in Ethiopia. Bold, smooth and roasted in house, Ethiopian Buna is second to none! Let Mama Zahara or another well trained person on our staff serve buna in a traditional Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. Watch as she roasts coffee beans, offers popcorn and other treats and serves our beloved buna in a gesture of friendship and unity. Each guest will be given 3 servings of buna poured into traditional Ethiopian coffee cups called, cini. In Ethiopian culture, each serving has a meaning. Abol, the first cini, is for the pleasure or to welcome you. The second cini, Tona, is to promote thought or contemplation. The third cini, is Bereka, means blessing. It symbolizes well wishes to you. Ultimately, the ceremony is a time to slow down and connect with one another through conversation, delicious buna and snacks.
